VENTURA – Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency in Ventura County today in response to the Mountain Fire, which has already burned at least 19,643 acres. The fire has led to widespread evacuations, destroyed homes, and put critical infrastructure at risk. During his visit to communities affected by the blaze, Governor Newsom also highlighted the recent approval of a Fire Management Assistance Grant from FEMA, which will aid state and local firefighting efforts.
