VENTURA – Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order today to bolster ongoing efforts to respond to and recover from the Mountain Fire in Ventura County.
The order includes measures to accelerate debris removal and cleanup, authorize state agencies to speed up resource procurement, and deploy the California National Guard. It also suspends certain legal and procedural requirements to ensure a swift response and recovery, such as contracting and bidding laws, waiting periods for unemployment benefits, fees for replacing lost documents, and licensing regulations for health and social services facilities. Additionally, it provides waivers to assist schools, health facilities, and care providers affected by the fire and ensures adequate staffing for emergency operations.
