Brian Chávez se graduó de la Universidad de Harvard en 1993 y de la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad Tecnológica de Texas en 1996, convirtiéndose en abogado certificado el 1 de noviembre de 1996. Regresó a Odessa para ejercer con su papá (un veterano del Ejército de los Estados Unidos, ex policía y ex fiscal de distrito del condado de Ector). Brian ha sido asesor legal del Hoestenbach Law Group desde 2016.
Brian ha llevado numerosos casos a lo largo de su carrera jurídica y le gusta decir que se ocupa de «cualquier cosa, desde una multa de estacionamiento hasta un asesinato» en los tribunales penales de Texas y Estados Unidos. Brian es muy respetado en la comunidad jurídica y es conocido por conocer a fondo los casos de sus clientes, lo que le ha valido numerosos veredictos de «no culpable» y desestimaciones a lo largo de su carrera jurídica.
