Hunter Hoestenbach

Hunter Hoestenbach is a native Texan who moved 20 years ago to San Diego to attend law school and never left.  He is an academic at heart who has a passion for knowledge and a drive to constantly acquire new skills.  The story of his legal career is one best told by the diverse set of skills he has amassed over the years to become a top-flight litigator.

He began his legal career as a jury consultant for trial teams in high-stakes patent infringement lawsuits involving hundreds of millions to billions of dollars.  Working closely with endless mock trial jurors to analyze how they process evidence and argument gave him invaluable insight into the factors that truly win a case.

Hunter rose from that experience to become a personal injury litigator.  Not satisfied with having his knowledge limited to jury dynamics, Hunter dove deep into the literature on negotiations theory and worked closely with one of most singularly gifted closers in the country to hone his skills as a negotiator and become the complete litigator.

His litigation success caught the attention of a $100 million revenue technology company out of Seattle that recruited him to be its chief legal officer and chief compliance officer.  Big tech opened the doors for Hunter to the world of large-scale automation, performance optimization, and business development.

He brought those lessons learned from big tech back to the practice of injury law where he has since added insurance defense to his resume.  Working closely with insurance companies and adjusters in injury litigation, Hunter has witnessed first-hand how litigation decisions are made within those organizations and what factors drive their analyses on paying claims. 

Hunter has served as the President of the California Creditors’ Bar Association.  He has successfully defended a regulatory enforcement action by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau out of Washington D.C.  He has been the presenter of continuing legal education talks to judges statewide.  His diverse skill set and legal background, together with his highly motivated work ethic, make him a formidable advocate for his clients.
